Ramon C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts is a dual-mission high school dedicated to providing aspiring artists and scholars with an academically rigorous pre-college curriculum and a comprehensive, four-year pre-conservatory arts program.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide an exemplary arts and academic educational experience to students who have a passion for the arts, are culturally and socioeconomically diverse and hail from across all of Los Angeles. Situated on Grand Avenue, we offer the highest caliber of arts-integrated education and the opportunity to access the rich cultural vibrancy of the Los Angeles arts community.

School Experience Survey - Tell Us How VAPA is Doing!

If you have not already done so, please take a few moments to fill out the LAUSD School Experience Survey to let us know how we at VAPA are doing. This survey is very important to us and to the district, the results of which will help us in writing our school's School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). The SPSA is the document that our school bases our budget on.

Community Museum & Immigration Rights Workshop

Students have prepared a Community Museum in collaboration several Los Angeles partner organizations, inspired by Chicano writer & artist Sandra Cisneros' The House on Mango Street.
A "Know Your Rights" session led by El Rescate will also be present to provide information and support in regards to immigration issues.
Dance  Company Concert

Dance Company Concert

Dance Company Showcase is a special concert featuring the Dance Academy's only audition-based group. This pre-professional concert company highlights Grand Art's best dancers in a variety of dance styles, from Hip-Hop to contemporary. The evening features works from professional guest artists from our partners Versastyle Street Dance Company as well student and faculty choreographed works. Directed by Mrs. Gelber and Ms. Delcambre this evening is sure to take your breath away. We can't wait to show you the students' hard work and dedication.

Cell Phone Free Roll-Out

To improve student mental health, academic focus and promote positive relationships, Ramon Cortines Visual & Performing Arts High School will implement the Phone Free Policy beginning March 24, 2025. In adherence to the LAUSD No Cell Phone Policy (BUL - 5468.0), students will not be permitted to use their phones, smart watches or other smart devices connected to their phones during school hours.
