Parent Education
Via Zoom (Registration is required) The Wellbeing Center is partnering with the Planned Parenthood Los Angeles Promotoras Comunitarias to offer workshops that will provide tools to parents and guardians so they can comfortably talk to their teens about substance abuse, self-care and healthy relationships.

Participants learn about the impact of stress in the body and mind. They identify personal signs of stress and discuss positive and negative ways to cope with stress. Participants engage in a mindfulness exercise to obtain other tools and resources for managing stress.

2. Substance Abuse in Youth
Overview of most common drugs used by adolescents, age of initiation, risk factors and protective factors will be shared and discussed. Participants will analyze what families can do to reduce the risk.

3. How to Talk to Your Teens About Sexuality
Participants will be informed about child development to help them identify behaviors and attitudes that are a normal part of childhood and adolescence. Useful tools will be provided to improve communication with their child about sexuality. The goal is to help participants support their child in developing a healthy sexuality

4. Domestic Violence
Participants will learn about the scope of domestic violence and identify abusive behaviors in a relationship. Activities will provide opportunities to dispel myths and build skills to support people who are victims of domestic violence. Moreover, participants will state what they want in a healthy relationship.
