Inspiring the Next Generation of Storytellers at Grand Arts
Mr. Jorge Caridad, an Emmy Award-winning producer with decades of experience in the entertainment industry, is dedicated to preparing students for success in media arts. A proud graduate of LAUSD schools and California State University, Los Angeles, Mr. Caridad worked at renowned media outlets such as KABC 7 LA, MGM Studios, Telemundo, and UFC Television. His career highlights include two Imagen Award nominations and an Emmy Award for the television series #LAPrepa.
At Ramon C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts (Grand Arts), Mr. Caridad teaches video production courses as part of the Media Arts Academy, which he helped establish in 2022. In 2024, he launched Grand Arts News, a bi-weekly, student-produced broadcast news show on YouTube. Through this program, students learn storytelling, journalism, and video production using PBS Student Reporting Labs curriculum, while gaining real-world experience in creating professional content.
Beyond the classroom, Mr. Caridad serves as the AME Workforce Training Grant Coordinator, connecting students with internships, workshops, and field trips through partnerships with organizations like Netflix, Spotify, and BAFTA. His program equips students with industry-relevant skills, preparing them for college and careers in the arts, media, and entertainment fields.
Under Mr. Caridad’s guidance, students develop creativity, technical expertise, and a passion for storytelling. His Media Arts program blends hands-on learning with career-focused opportunities, ensuring students are ready to succeed in an ever-evolving media landscape.
